MICE

mice pest control House mice can vary in colors from light brown to gray.  Their bellies are always a lighter shade of fur, however, and their ears and tail are bare.  As an adult, a house mouse can range from 3 to 4 inches and weigh anywhere from .4 to .9 ounces.  House mice are always on the hunt for shelter, food and water sources.  They typically have a preference for seeds, but will eat anything they can get their paws on in your kitchen.

Mice are notorious for their ability to reproduce quickly.  Females can have up to 10 litters per year, with each litter producing between 5 and 10 babies.  This means that a single pair of mice can produce hundreds of offspring in just a few months, leading to rapid population growth and potential infestations.  These opportunistic pests will take advantage of any food and water provided.  Rodents live in urban, rural, and suburban areas, and almost any property can become a home to rodents.  The biggest attractant for rodents is food; bird feeders, pet food, gardens, trash cans, and compost are all places where rodents forage for food.

While mice are typically considered a nuisance, they can also carry diseases such as Hantavirus, Salmonella, and Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis.  Additionally, they can cause damage to property by chewing through wires, insulation, and other materials.

If you suspect you have a mouse infestation call Freedom Pest Services. Our certified pest control technicians are able to inspect a home and identify any current mouse activity or potential issues that could cause pest activity in the future.  During these pest inspections, we are sure to check all areas of the home, including the crawl space.  We use bait and trap methods to solve current pest problems and keep them from returning.
