TERMITES

Subterranean termites are said to be the most destructive wood pests in the United States and cause costly damage to residential and commercial properties.  Termites cost homeowners over five billion dollars in losses across the country each year.  They are light in color, sporting a creamy, pale, almost translucent appearance.  This type of termite can either be wingless or have wings with distinct patterns.
Termites work year-round, night and day, to feed their massive colonies.

Termites live in colonies underground and you could go years without detecting them. In order to get food such as wood and cellulose material, they create tunnels that reach ground level.  Subterranean termites typically swarm in the spring or summer when they are looking to establish new colonies.  During this time, winged termites emerge from the nest and fly to a new location to start a new colony.  Once they have found a suitable location, the alates shed their wings and begin to mate, with the new queen laying eggs to start the colony.  One queen can produce thousands of eggs in her lifetime.  However, winged termites can also lay eggs in their colony.  For this reason, as soon as you think you have an infestation, contact a professional immediately.

Termite infestations can cause serious structural issues to your home, and even huge cosmetic issues.  One of the biggest obstacles they create is how unnoticeable they are until the damage is already done.

You typically won’t find them swarming around outside until the colony is already large enough to be wreaking havoc on your home’s structure.  Luckily our technicians here at Freedom Pest Services are able to identify termite activity and treat the area quickly and efficiently.  All of our termite treatments come with a 12-year bond.  Annual maintenance is required, and we will gladly correct any deficiency found for free during this service.
